Amount of postgraduate fees covered by grant for 2011/2012

Does anyone know what is the maximum amount the grant will cover of fees for postgraduate courses this year? I know the max for 2010/2011 was €6270, but when I rang my county council to see what the figure was for this year they said they didn't know as they haven't received that information yet, and couldn't enlighten me as to when they will. I'm just concerned that they may shave 4% off it like they are the grant payments themselves, and that's an amount I can't really afford!

Seeing as the grant forms are up on studentfinance.ie, I figure someone somewhere must know, so thought I'd ask here.

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated!

sadly, if the county council dont have that information yet, then no one here will be able to give you an accurate figure.

Yeah, figured it'd be worth asking anyway :)

However, a bit of a trawl led me to the first document listed here, 'Student Grant Scheme 2011', which pertains to 2011/2012, and says this in a table on page 40:
    Tuition Fee Element:
Maximum fee limit Full (100%) grant in respect of tuition fees: Approved postgraduate courses provided in the State or Northern Ireland: €6270
which I think is my answer. Might be of use to anyone who was wondering the same thing. Information must still be getting around to the various county councils.

Just wondering, does the grant at this level only cover fees??My fees are less than 3grand so just wondering if it's only that or do we still get paymnets as with our undergrad?

It can cover fees plus maintenance depending on means

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
