    Hi all,
So finally i got rid of eircom and their overpriced service.
I am thinking to join 3 for broadband, 3broadband pro package.

Me and OH both have Iphone 4 on three since launch and happy enough with service.
How's 3 BB speed wise? i don't need very fast but decent enough and is pro package available on 30 day contract as well so i can cancel if doesn't suits us?

oooh Id you can I'd say avoid em on first look, but if you have an ok 3 reception it may be ok... there's a bucketload of threads on em here and the service widely varies with location... most reviews are not great :S

They have a 14 day money back option when you sign up... there is pay as you go a 12 month contract and 18 month as far as I know

They're customer service is pretty abysmal and if you can avoid mobile broadband there is a fair few better packages than 3 as an option!

When it works well, it works VERY well. fastest mobile Broadband and best coverage by far.

    BUT
Terrible, ignorant customer support. They read everything from a script, and WILL NOT deviate from it.
    They don't acknowledge network problems.
    They redirect you in circles.
    They won't acknowledge contention.
They'll try and upgrade you and trap you into new contracts without asking.
They'll mislead and cheat you any way they can to hold down sales.
If you fall behind on your bill, they'll call you 30 or 40 times a day, and send collection agencies around.

If you're sure you can stay on their good side, go ahead, but go 12 months, not 18. They could send the road crews out 4 months into your contract sign up a load of people nearer to the mast than you, and your coverage could drop to zero due to contention.

Take it from a former 3 employee, give them no benefit of the doubt, and stay the hell away from long contracts. Take their word on nothing and get everything triple-confirmed if they change something for you.

I subscribe. When it works, it is ok. The odd time I had issues, it was a nightmare. For assistance on "scripted" problems, they were ok.

I am on 3pay and with the caveats above, I am fine.

My 2 worst experiences have been:

    1. They messed up the unlocking of my phone and I got the phone stuck for good, until I got help from and shop on Talbot, that even worked out cheaper.

    2. The offer free benefits that are quickly removed with no notice, other than a message on a hidden customer notifications area of their website.

Moving off any fixed line Broadband in favour of Mobile Broadband - bad choice.

    Thanks all for feedback.
I moved away from eircom because i was paying for service which i never used, such as higher bandwidth and free calls on higher package, and if you move to lower package then they tie you up in new contract so better was cancel it.

I am still looking for option, I will be more than happy over 3mb consistent speed as we both have iphone 4 and very rarely use Laptop, currently tethering and speed is not bad.

I am open to suggestion if anyone have, don't mind contract too.
    Thanks again.

But many people fail to get those sort of speeds, ever. Do a speed test from your Iphone every half hour or so and see what speeds you get? If you have an All You Can Eat contract then why not stick with tethering - no need for a new contract.

hi my wife just got an iphone4 on all u can eat contract and im thinking of switching over my wireless broadband from digiweb to 3 broadband, purely for the 60gb download a month. will probably get the mifi router. are the speeds on the iphone the same as 3s broadband cos might do the speedtest myself with iphone to check out speeds before i get 3s broadband.

If you get a regular 3mb speed on 3 you're doing fantastically well! the speeds will change a hell of a lot during the day and chances are, they rarely go over 3mb, but depends on location etc.... and with 3 extending the deal on the iphone, the network will be more congested I'd imagine. For me I usually get about 2mb and at a low point, at least 1mb... maxing out for 3-4mb on the rare occasion...

After me personally trying a few mobile broadbands and exhausting all other unavailable fixed/fixed wireless broadband options I had to go for 3 reluctantly! now it works ok but I had to put their 3g router on the roof and run a 20m cable into the house into another router to get any sort of consistency. I had a meteor dongle that would get over 4mb throughout the day indoors and worked far better, but lacked the data limit I needed, but once again it purely depends on the location the broadband is used.. I will 100% be switching to a meteor bill pay option after my 3 contract is up since their service is far superior for me

Just my .2c I don't have much to complain about for 3, but I tried to avoid in every which way possible!

+ doesn't their all you can eat data have a limit of 15GB!? ...If you can use tethering you'd be ok but no wifi is annoying sometimes!

Yeah combined both phones we get 30 GB which should be more than enough, Wi fi is not a problem too as you can use Personal hotspot for up to 5 devices.
It's working fine at the moment but looking better solution for long term.
