Loose twinning bands

I bought a second hand set of 10 ltr tanks manifolded with twinning bands. I had a visual done on them so obviously the valves were removed and replaced. The twinning bands look to have been removed also. They were not flush to the tanks all the way around. I also noticed that the cylinders are further apart at the top than the bottom. Is that putting unnecessary pressure on the valve threads? I gave the bands a good tighening, I dont think there is much chance of the tanks dropping out or anthing but should the bands be perfectly flush all the way around? Should I go hell for leather and tighen 'em up some more?

Sounds to me like the manifold needs to be adjusted, the bands should be flush and gap between the tanks should be the same at both ends.
Squeezing the life of the bands may put strain on the manifold if its not properly adjusted and you may end up with a leak.
I would take it back to whoever did your visual and ask them to put it back together properly

Thats it indeed. I had a look around, got some great info from the guys at DIR explorers. I just need to adjudt the manifold to bring the cylinder necks closer together. Still it was an absolute pox of a job assembling the set before the centre gave it back to me. the manifold not adjusted right, and the twinning bands not flush because of this. Also the higher band was not tightened and was easily moved up or down. This is just dangerous. I had the set collected by a friend who would not know to check or look at this sort of stuff at all. Could easily have come apart while lifting.
