Yes had to turn back to the BBC1 SD channel because the HD one was doing my nut in yesterday while watching the tennis. If it is still the same when I get home from work I might as well give UPC a ring because I'm not going to pay for that sh*te quality.

Yeah same deal for me, was watching the f1 on sunday on bbc1 hd and it was all over the place, plus has anyone else noticed the picture gets like this when a light switch in the house is turned on or off or any electical appliance for that matter, ive noticed that with my upc box.

I have noticed some slowdown on the BBC HD and BBC HD1 especially when watching the tennis. One moment the picture quality is great and then for a few seconds there is a definite slowdown, almost looks like frames are being lost. It could be something to the do compression/decomompression but thats only a guess.

I havent had a chance to see if this is happening on other channels as much but have other people noticed this slowdown?

Hmmm, it's sometimes a pain to solve that problem. Any electrical switch or the thermostat of a fridge for example will make a tiny spark, which also creates eletromagnetic interference (EMI). Basically, positioning the box away from whatever creates the pixelation will help. Using new, proper double-shielded TV coax cable (e.g. TX100, WF100, CT100) will also help. Those €2 "TV leads" that are often used to plug in a TV or STB to the UPC socket are absolutely useless. Too thin and a piss-poor copper weave for shielding (between the inner core and outer insulation). Replacing that with a made-up lead (two f-connectors and a metre or two of proper cable) can work wonders. No need to splash out €40 on a "Monster Cable".

If you call up UPC and you manage to get a technician out then he should be able to replace any particularly dodgy cables.
