If I can't get Saorview now, will I ever get it?

I must live in the 2% that can't get a signal, I'm wondering are they going to be putting up new masts or boosting the signal in the future to increase coverage or is this the limit?

You'll get saorsat which will be along in a few months.

I don't know if they are boosting the siganl, but our area was not on the coverage map 2 weeks ago and now it is, so I am still holding out hope.

Posted another thread to see if I can get the signal.

No new masts but power may be increased from some masts in late 2012 once analogue is switched off.

Are you using a external aerial to receive the 3/4 analogue channels at the moment? Have you tried moving the aerial to check for reception from another transmitter?

Remember the coverage checker is indicative only. A new aerial and/or different transmitter and maybe masthead amp might pull in a signal. Of course there will always be areas that will be blackspots for DTT reception.

Power will be increased but only in the northern half of the state, the southern half is done bar a Maghera height increase this summer which will increase Galway/Clare/Tipp coverage a tad.

There are still red areas (covered end 2012) on the map in Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny & Wicklow (at least). There must be other power increases or coverage changes planned, assuming the map is still accurate in this respect.

I'm pretty sure I'm in a blackspot. None of the neighbours can get it.

Will saorview be carried on the astra satellite like sky, or will I have to get a motorised dish? Will they scramble the signal or will it be like FTA?

    http://www.saortv.info/satellite-saorsat/

    No, you don't need Motor
No, it's not Scrambled/Encrypted, but FTA
No, it's not on Astra 28E, so Dual feed or second Dish, also Diseqc switch if Freesat is used. A Sky box won't work. A "Freesat HD" box will in some fashion "work". A non-HD box won't work at all.

Needs a special LNBF at dish that should be available "soon". Public service not available yet. But should be running well before ASO in Oct 2012, maybe this Autumn.

New mast planned for Mt Leinster - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=67827815.

Carlingford Village gets Analogue. They will not get a sniff of DTT in the Village I think.

Digital coverage is already better than Analogue. But it's not and never will be at all existing Analogue coverage locations. Strange but true.

A few places (mostly in Northern Ireland) are due to get an increased signal after 2012.

In the Republic there may also be places which benefit from upgrade work (new masts etc) at existing sites.

They will get DTT aplenty watty, just only from the UK broadcasters! Even stranger but true.

And I *think* I read a report here from Freddie59 which said that IoM Freeview was already receivable in Carlingford.

As for increased ERPs, I'm not sure about Mt. Leinster given that it also is subject to UK restrictions. I expect it's not on full power as I know of a reception problem for someone who has perfect Mt. Leinster analogue, and is nowhere near Wales. Though with Welsh and Westcountry DSO already complete, there shouldn't be a need to wait for DSO across the two islands.
