Is it just me, or is there something quite staged looking about that car? Puts me in mind of an architectural folly

Isn't that a RHD steering column?

I haven't a clue, but something along the lines of an Austin, Morris or Vaxhaull?

Riley quite liked those kind of big flared arches front and back, as well as 'pop out' windscreen

    Overland Whippet?
Shape of the wings with the indentation, chrome radiator surround with black centre, looks like it has a six cylinder engine, and they were made in rhd too

Yes looks good for that - the windscreen surround is also the right shape for their cars of that period as is the rounded arched nature of the bell housing\scuttle area.

If you're back there again you might check the block for castings, markings etc. Maybe any clues on the ancillaries? There also seems to be a little aluminium plate on the bulkhead. It's certainly over eighty years old so is remarkable that it's still complete.

Jesus 850, well done, how did you know that or was it through Googling?

OP, where is that? Ireland or the USA?

Bibles? Well if the Jehovahs ever show up at my door with a few of those instead of their usual crap I'd gladly let them in for some tea and Hobnobs.

I'm guessing it's NZ - which would support the Willys thing too.

correct its nz south island in a forest in blenhiem we went there on a winch challenge and a lot of the 4x4 guys were stumped by it,so they had a competition to try find out what it is.
there were some numbers cast on the block but nothing to identify it,nor could i make out any ancilliary makers marks, yes there was a little alloy plate just above the pedals which was finned.
it was missing wheelsmgearbox and axle and interior but whats there has lasted well.
