I want to backup my iPhone 3GS. I last backed it up over a year ago. In the meantime my PC (with the backup) has become defunct. However, I do have a backup of the iTunes directory that was created from the phone at that time and I have put that content into my iTunes folder in My Music (the appropriate place for iTunes, afaik) on my new PC. I have disabled Auto Sync in ITunes.

So, now to the questions...

If I plug my iPhone into the PC now, will I lose anything from my iPhone? What do I need to do to ensure that I take a full new backup from the phone without losing anything?

Just try sync and see. It won't delete anything before warning you
