    Yes.*

(*only 90% sure though so I accept no responsibility for the wrongness of any claims made here or purchases made because of them.)

    slightly off topic,

are you building your own fixie?
any recommendations on sources of info on what parts to use etc?

i want to build one myself using the frame of an old bike i have,

I am..very slowly but surely. I've built roadbikes before but this is new territory.

I can now say that the shimano singlespeed freewheel works grand on a track hub. The otherside will be fixed.

I had an old frame - put a new headset and bottom bracket in it because they were wrecked from being left out in the rain. Took the rings of the double crankset that was on it and replaced with a single ring (needed special chainring bolts for this). I got an ahead adapter because I didn't want to use a quill stem and the rest is the same as a road bike build.

There are good resources at lfgss, sheldon brown, park tools tutorials and elsewhere to help you figure out what to do. Alot of it depends on your frame and what the rear dropout shape and spacing is.

Don't bother with any of that narrow straight handlebar messing, use drops and ride your bike not pose with it ;)

    What frame do you have?

Velo solo or ebay are good for some of the specialist stuff like chainring bolts. You'll need:

Any front wheel (that fits the frame)
    Rear track wheel
    bars
    stem
    brake levers
    brake calipers
    crankset
    bottom bracket
    chain
    fixed sprocket and lockring
    tyres
    tubes
    bar tape
    brake cables
    seatpost
    saddle

Even taking advantage of sales, all this gear ended up costing more than I could have bought a retail fixie for but it's built to my spec and will be nice when it's done.

You might need spacers at the chainrings or rear sprocket to get the chainline perfect.

The drivetrain (front ring, rear sprocket chain) can be 3/8" or 1/8" but keep everything the same.

100% sure you can, indeed my Bowery came from the shop set up like this. The half width threads are enough to support the freewheel.

I paid full whack for the 17t the week before last. 60% off now!

Yes it fits the track hub and yes it is a heavy ugly lump of a thing.
