Someone in China ordered 582 Saabs and paid in advance

    Article

Also Saab is still waiting for approval of the EIB for a cash injection by Antonov. There is hope still!

Saab could be saved if only someone had the balls to go back to square one and start with a blank sheet of paper rather than used "licensed" GM platforms/drivetrains, which is what I'm assuming they are intending to continue to do. It would mean they become a niche product but so what?

Thats chicken feed though to a car maker and will suppliers continue to supply them components to even build these cars given the current situation?

    I give them a week.

That money won't cover wages and isn't enough to restart the factory to get the cars built

I've read it a number of times today.

I don't see how it will work. 13m is a drop in the ocean to a car company especially one like SAAB.

    It's fooked (sadly)

Antonov has been ready with a big sack of money for Saab, but the EIB won't approve the sale and leaseback of Saab properties to him

I'm hazy on the details but I think I read that with his cash Saab would be safe for a considerable time.

At the very least they should build hatchbacks again.
Switching to saloon/estate cars only has lost them the core of their loyal followers.

(in forum parlance ...the boot of a classic 900 with the back seats down swallows a whole Octavia)

Analysts seems to think it's only a matter of time. I am surprised that Saab have lasted as long as they have.

Considering that Saab lost $300 million last year, it's unlikely that anyone is going to step in and backstop those kind of loses.

582? Shur at the peak of the boom there would have been 582 for the month of March in Dublin alone...

I'm not sure if Saab are really relevant any more anyway.
