Selling something for someone (not me) for €450 - got PM'ed an offer for €100.
Despite saying clearly, the price cannot be lowered.
    There is some plonkers around.

As adverts.ie is a sister site to boards.ie I ask:
do not link to adverts in this thread as it would point out specific users for ridicule, which isn't allowed.

7 grand for a brand new Avensis "for my father who is a pensioner".

Oh okay, if he's a pensioner...

Selling a brand new digital camera for €150 (unwanted gift, was €200 in shops) advert had been up for an hour and got an offer of €50

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

Laptop for sale, Apple macbook and I had my eye on it at a good price of €350. Seller stated no swaps and had four offers of swapping different mobile phones

    Nothing but chancers over there

Even if you state no swaps multiple times in your ad you'll still get these offers

I got offered a boat as payment for a car. Not much use to me here in Laois, the most landlocked county in Ireland :P

Tipperary is the most landlocked county.
The largest and surrounded by the most counties

That's not something to be proud of though

Tipperary can't be the most landlocked, where do you explain all their water they sell? :p

Ah, but Laoise is the only county surrounded by counties which don't touch the sea.

Had a moped I'd restored for sale, repainted it completely, fixed all the electrics and running issues, had it up for butttons. I got PM's non stop asking if I'd swap for DVD collections, broken XBoxes, you name it. All I was short getting offered was someone's used toilet paper collection.

Jesus man; then you need to learn how to spell it! It's Laois, FFS!

Never been made a stupid offer, but the stupidest thing I ever saw on Adverts was a guy selling a Cigar Cutter from a Xmas cracker. It was the EXACT same one that comes in those "swanky" Xmas crackers. I pointed it out and he took it down. :P

    No they're not.

Laois is the county. Laoise is a girl's name.

    http://www.laois.ie/
    http://laoise.net/

You may be confusing it with Portlaoise.

    Kilkenny doesn't touch the sea:confused:

Seen some satellite images that show the coast jutting inwards and forming some of Kilkenny's coast as well, not sure to be fair.

There's some right prats on adverts...people offering the asking price and then vanishing off the face of the earth and not replying to PMs.

I reckon anybody doing that should be banned from adverts, its pure time-wasting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Rothmans

Well I've always seen it spelt both ways

EDIT: According to wiki, Laoise is how its spelt as Gaeilge. That must be the reason behind it.

I can't stand those desperate people on adverts that are selling the most utterly useless things, and constantly offer them to offers as swaps even though it's inevitably going to be declined. I don't understand the desperation. Like, there'll be a guy selling an iPad for example, and some pathetic individual will ask...swap for anything on my ads? Subsequent viewing of ads includes 10 old dvds, maybe a battered Nintendo DS (right speaker not working), an ancient mobile phone, a solitary xbox controller, and so on...

For Sale: One can of 7up Free, in it's orginal packaging, kept in a cold area, for optimal temperature, is brand new, willing to accept offers

Alternatively willing to swap for one packet of Haribo ( not the small ones for you chancers out there), orginals, which must have loads of rings and cola bottles, not loads of those ****ty eggs.

( I would of taken a picture, but I reckon for the calories involved, it's just not worth it, am legit)

The funniest thing I have seen on a website was someone offering Kerry water for free

    That's a bloody fair swap.
The table saw was worth nearly €1500 and the Ford Ka €400 at most :D

I've genuine BMW alloys with new tyres (cost €120 a corner) and the whole lot cost well over €1k and I'd them up €800 or so and some fella offered €100!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,004 ✭✭✭jimthemental

    Kilkenny doesn't touch the sea!

I was made an offer for an amp, accepted and then got no further contact from this individual. Amp is up on done deal now instead, adverts was a pain in the arse nearly everyone wanted to swap for stuff and offered low money when they did. Done deal has worked better for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,513 ✭✭✭Ray Palmer

Some guy offered me weed for iPod nano. Others offered a €100 more than once after saying I wouldn't accept that offer from two other people
