Defence Witnesses / Notice to Prosecution

at district court level, is there a provision requiring the defence to notify the prosecution in advance of an intention to call defence witnesses / expert witnesses. if so, what are the specific requirements..(apart from obvious 14 day notice of alibi after being sent forward) ?

I note section 34(2) criminal procedure act 2010, insofar as adducing expert defence witnesses, however at first glance it appears unclear as to whether this solely applies to trials on indictment..?

if a defence witness gives evidence in a summary hearing, how, and in what circumstances, can the prosecution introduce evidence of these witnesses previous convictions & cast doubt over credibility (eg: defence witness has ten fraud convictions)? I understand that evidence of bad character may be given by the State after evidence of good character has already been submitted..
