wermgr.exe: Multiple instances

    Howdy all,

I was wondering if I could get some help form people here if at all possible.

For the past few weeks I've been having severe performance issues on my 6-month old laptop. After doing some digging it turns out that there are multiple instances of wermgr.exe running which is causing lots of read/writing to the disc.

Anyway I've looked it up online and the suggested workaround was to turn off error reporting which hasn't helped. The problem seems to be getting worse actually.

A few weeks ago I had an upgrade that went wrong, and I've had this problem since. When I open action center > Maintenance > Check for solutions the system seems to be always looking for a solution to a problem with Windows Modules Installer.

Can anyone suggest any solutions? I'm running Windows 7, if you need any more info (bar my credit card details and mother's maiden name) just shout.
