Classics with recent form

Recently the Irish derby was run a week after the epsom derby and the market leaders were similar in both.

The form in the Irish derby followed the epsom form in that the favourite couldnt close the gap at the end over the second favourite and the winning distances were similar between horses who ran in both.

I would like to see if this trend is common over the years and I will look at the derbys to start with but there are a lot of classics where there is similar horses running with a short time frame.

    1. Where is the best place to get this information as the racing post websites and at the races are not the easiest to get the older races results?

    2. What are the main races where there will be similar classics run in Ireland or the UK within 2 weeks of eachother?

Irishracing.com is good, but to get the past results you'll need the name of horses who won the race. A simple Wikipedia search will do it e.g Irish 2000 guineas andit'll show a list of winners.

Obviously the Guineas and the derby is run in close succession.
Last year's Irish was won by Canford Cliffs, but Makfi and Dick Turpin didn't come over for the race.
Year before it was relatively weak,Mastercraftsman won that after Sea the Stars won the English.
Year before that Henrythenavigator confirmed placings with New Approach. He beat him a nose at Newmarket but beat him about a length I think in Ireland, both were 5/4 favouritesni think, with New Approach beaten at 11/8 at Newmarket.

Obviously Workforce didn't come over here for last year's Derby, nor did Rewilding. The Ballydoylebpacemaker who was placed at Epsom ran but came nowhere. It was won by Cape Blanco who didn't go to Epsom, instead he bombed in France when favourite.
Year before that Sea the Stars didn't run so Fame and Glory won handy enough, but STS was meant to go but the ground wasn't right.

A lot of the races are close together and in general a lot of the top English horses don't come over who won the English version. new Approach did go on to win at Epsom after running in the two Guineas, but was a last minute decision. 3 classics in a month isn't an easy task.

The Oaks is quite well spaced out though. Isn't run til mid July, nearly 6 weeks after the English. This gives the top fillies a chance to run in both contrary to the derby.
Sariska famously pissed the Irish Oaks on very soft going when Spencer waved at Frank Berry as he passed him on the bridle. Midday ran second at Epsom but ran no race in Ireland, blaming the ground.
Moonstone won the Irish a few years back after finishing second behind Look Here at Epsom, but she didn't come over. Can't even think of last year's Oaks.

Eh? First Saturday in June (Epsom) v Last Sunday in June (Curragh) means there is always about 3 weeks between them.
