    Righto,

I'm finally changing over to getting a scope
    Been looking at the http://www.eirsoft.ie/accessories/scopes/4x-illuminated-acog-scope-with-rails.html

The only question I have is visibility of the crosshair in different light conditions.
I want to use a scope and not worry about having to squint to see the illuminated cross hair during a bright day (every holosights nightmare), but don't want to get a black crosshair thats useless to me during the night.

So just wondering if anyone has any advice on this or other scopes that are worth a look.

Illuminated crosshairs is of neglegable use... minor use in daylight, but utter crap at night or dawn/dusk, because you cant see anything around the hairs.

I wouldn't pick one over a non illum... but if the one you want has it, get it anyway, its not a significant hinderance, as by default, the illumination is off, so its normal.

True, tried using mine during a night game and all I could see was the crosshairs, I ended up just pointing the gun and hoping as I couldn't see the crosshairs anyway.

Hmm. fair enough cuz I already use a holosight and I've never had problems with the illuminated crosshairs or seeing past them.

The problem with the holosight is that as soon as I bring it near bright light it disappears or becomes so faint that I have to squint like mad to see it and up its power to max.

With a scope I'm more concerned about having the problem of the sight disappearing on me when out in bright light than anything.

If the scope has normal Crosshairs as well as the illuminated that what won't be a problem , again like the other i have a scope with both and the illuminated isn't worth it at all to be honest.

If your holo has green and red settings that can help. If your shortsighted at all, then you will see the green in contrast in lowlight better, if like me you wear glasses which are recent and see really well, then red is more prominent. At night time, there is not enough light to use a sight illuminated or not.

*sniff* my holosight doesn't have red/green settings just red.
I had to choose between red/green or different sight images.
Since I was starting off I choose the different sight images as wanted to be able to find one I liked rather than being stuck with just one kind. *still love the holosight, t'was a good buy*

Not sure if I'm short sighted or not as I've just been told I've really good eyes.

hmmm.. from reading this it seems the sight will work in daylight but its then a case of personal preference of wether to use a crosshair design or a dot sight.

Myself I always preferred cross-haired to dot sight.

cheers for the help and opinions, gives me a look at both sides of the field. :D

Seeing past the crosshair in a red dot or eotech sight is easy... its 1x zoom...

Try it at night though :P harder.

A zoom scope with illuminated hairs gets just plain messy.

if bright sunlight is a problem for a telescopic sight, get a sunshade, or make one from a loo roll covered in black electrical tape, and scrim it ... simple. 2 inches over the objective should do... cuts down on glare, and stops reflections being as visible to opfor.
