    Hi

I have an mp4 movie which will not play on my Iomega screenplay plus HD multimedia hard drive. I already downloaded 'Free Convert to DIVX AVI WMV MP4 MPEG Converter' but it does not seem to work. I am looking for reccomendations of a free conversion program, to make this play on my hard drive. Thanks for any help

    Handbrake would be my recommendation.

Handbrake dropped the Xvid encoder and AVI container from 0.9.4 onwards.

You can still find Handbrake 0.9.3 if you look for it. But you're probably better off with something up-to-date like Mediacoder.

This is the gist of what you want:
-An MPEG-4 Pt.II compliant encoder (eg Xvid, DivX)
    -AVI container
    -Resolution 1280x720 or lower
    -MP3 or AC3 audio
