Hey there.. Im not sure if im in the right place at all. My gp put me on this new pill Qlaira in Feb and im looking for feedback to see if any of you are having the same breakthrough bleeding as I am. I had none the first months and then i have had it everymonth since im on month 5 now. I have it mid way through the pack and it stops just 3 days before im due my period. Its really annoying me and my bf as im not to keen on anything while its happening. Any adivce or has anyone been on this pill or any feedback not much on the net about it as its relatively new. I have no mood swings im ok like and have not gained weight only problem is the spotting and breakthrough bleeding! Any info appreciated!!

I've been on Qlaira for 18 months now and I have the opposite problem!I don't have ANY bleeding - not even periods! It suits me well though. If it's bothering you I'd definitely speak to your doctor about it and ask to get your pill changed. Qlaira has different hormones than a lot of pills so won't suit everyone!

Thanks a million for replying! I am not sure whats happening I cant get an opd with my GP until 27th of July!crazy... Other than the spotting (more so than breakthrough bleeding) i have absolutley no problems on this one. I rang the gp practice and they said it takes 6 months. I was on Yasmin and that was perfect until i hit 6year and i started having such bleeding and cramps it was awful! Hopefully my gp will be able to advise but I just wanted to see if many other women were having the same or similar problems or were even on this one! Thanks again!

I actually had a lot of breakthrough bleeding for the first 3 months and then like I said I've had none at all!I find the pill itself to be really good though - no moodswings, spots, weight gain etc. I've had loads of problems with previous pills too and this seems to be the only one that suits.

    But everyones different!!

Great thanks for your story on it. My gp asked me to give it the 6 months cause i had so much problems on the other ones. I went bonkers on 2 of them aswell. ha ha. Yea hopefully it will settle down gp seems to think it will so i have another month to try and see how it goes. Weight is actually going down instead of up and apart from strange dreams I cant complain so hopefully it will stop! Thanks!

Probably nothing to be worried about, though you could mention it to the doctor the next time you are in. I know some people on Progesterone only tablets and their periods stopped on them, or they only get them irregularly (I know they are a bit different).

I am about to start Qlaira but I noticed from reading the info booklet that there seem to be only 2 inactive pills out of 28 (as opposed to 7 I think in most other combined pill packs) so I wonder if it means less likelihood of a period, or shorter ones, as it means you are talking a hormone most of the time? Anyway I would love this result myself so I hope it happens to me.

I think there is something about periods being potentialy lighter/more spaced out in the info pack that comes with the tablet. Someone also posted this article elsewhere on boards which I thought was interesting

I have only read a little but of it so far.

Hey I am now 6 months on qlaira i have breakthrough bleeding every month in the middle of the pack around day 12 for a full week:mad: then its back to ok for about week and a half. I have no other side effects apart from crazy ass dreams  my bf says he doesnt know what i do be at in my sleep! also on month 5 had a huge bleed on day 10. I am back to gp in 2 weeks. If the break through bleeding would stop I would love this no moods or weight gain! Has this happened anyone else?

I've been on Qlaira for about 15 months now. I get much lighter periods for maybe 2-3 days and then BAM about day 6 or 7 I get spotting. Wonderful. It usually only lasts a couple of days though and isn't heavy. I also missed a period entirely one month, possibly due to stress which is always fun :p

On the plus side every other pill had me plagued with thrush and Qlaira seems to have stopped that :)

I'm in two minds over whether to go back to the doctor about the spotting since the benefits outweigh the drawbacks at the moment...

Glad to hear other people are experiencing similar stuff though. Although I hope it settles down for you, mine was ropey at the start but seems to have evened out now!

i was on Qlaira for five months. was fine the first two months then started getting break through bleeding. Its wasnt the worst but it was just inconvient and a pain in the ass so went back to my gp.

on Logynon now and seems to be working fine but give it another few months and i will prob have to chance again. it seems like my body just decides it doesnt like the pill after 8-9 months so i just change to a new one.
