Broken Camera

Hey, I dropped my camera a few months ago and broke the lens mechanism somehow in that it can't focus or take pictures. It's a good camera so I'd like to get it fixed. I contacted Fujifilm, the manufacturer, for a quote on a repair and was told it'd be €125. As I'm a poor student I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could potentially get it repaired for cheaper?

If the lens is just knocked out of position, you might get someone to fix it.
If anything is broken, it is probably beyond economical repair.

    Hey,
I could take a look for you and see what I could do if you like?

Does the lens assembly stay stuck out or what exactly happens when you try to turn it on?

No the lens will move in and out when turned on/off but when it's on an error message appears saying 'lens control error' and it appears to have problems focusing and taking photos.

Ah I see, Sounds like a small FPC (flexible printed circuit) could have been damaged or simply a switch is dislodged inside that lets the camera know when the lens has extented properly.
There are a good few things that could cause the fault but the fault will bie within the lens assembly.

If you are interested I could have a look at it for you and see what I can do? PM me if so.
