The One That Got Away

Ever had a car you wish you never sold?

I've been driving Bimmers for 15 years but one of the best cars I've ever had was a '94 2.8 Audi Quattro Coupe. It was near mint in British Racing Green with cream leather interior and walnut dash. Went like fcuk and handled like a go-kart. Serious car and most definitely a future classic. Different animal than the S2 (2.2 Turbo) as she was a straight 6 N/A and never thrashed like most of the S2's have been. Really regret letting her go!

    Looked pretty much like this:

    I absoluely love the Quattros...ya eegit!!! :D

The only car I really loved is my current one. I always toy with the idea of getting something different but I know I'd regret getting rid of the 'teg.

Too many cars, too little time!

Most of the cars I've had have been motors I've been proud of. Ya know the type of car when you park her up and walk away you can't help looking back to admire her!

The thing with the Quattro was she was worth holding on to long term - as I say future classic, clean and tight and quite rare in the straight 2.8.

I should never have sold the last sierra diesel i had, yes they incredibly slow, noisy and not very powerful, but nothing went wrong with it, EVER, not even a lightbulb blowing or a flat tyre.

And another ford that's kind of got away is my 1994 granada which is sitting beside the house needing probbaly 1100-1300 worth of attention to get it back into the shape it was in first and i regret not having done it over the last 3 years. Had the car since i was 18 it was another one that never went wrong, anything that failed was somthing i'd broken or not fixed soon enough. For some strange reason i've never been able to let it go, have a lot of history with it and been all over the country with it.

I had a 88 BMW 325is when I was 21. I bought it for 3 grand of a friend of mine and got fed up with it after a while.

12 years on and I would love to have it back. What a car..

Nope 2.5 12v, still a mighty engine for such a small and agile car though

the 318is and 320is (320is lhd only) were 4cyl 16vs but the 6 cylinders were old fashiond 12vs

I regret selling my Bora, thought i could live without a bit of power for a while and con myself into thinking drinking from the black pump was now socially acceptable but cold turkey is no fun.I don't think in years to come i'll look back and still regret selling it like the Quattro above but short term i definitely regret it :(

I had the first of the VR6 golfs in 1999 and letting it go was a big mistake. Great car with an even better noise.

I had a Mk2 Golf GTI 16v which I still regret selling. That said, there are only so many times you can face coming out of your house to see the car door slightly ajar..

1986 E28 524td. Did huge mileage with it, great mpg, never ever let me down.

1988 Opel Senator B 3.0 24v Auto. Best motorway cruiser I've ever had, pity they never made them as an estate. :(

And most of all one of these, an Isetta, pushed the fcuker more than I drove it but it was such a laugh, put a smile on everyones faces and an absolute fanny magnet to boot!!!

I restored my gran's 1995 Renault 5 Campus a few months ago. Sold it for €800 soon after I finished it. For what it was, it went like stink and was a fairly rare car on the road these days.

The guy who bought it lives in town, has it off the road at the moment and won't sell it back to me! He plans to put it back on the road though. Fingers crossed he doesn't!
