Working in Ireland with UK qualifications

    Hello,

I'm currently a second year Trainee Clinical Psychologist on the D.Clin.Psy in the UK. My partner is from Ireland and we're quite eager to move over there in September 2012 when I qualify. I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of the likelihood of me getting a job in Ireland in September 2012 in the current climate (I'm aware you can't be precise or sure about this, but I'm just looking for general impressions based on the current situation). My particular areas of interest are in psychosis, trauma and severe 'psychopathology'. How is Ireland for jobs in these specialties? I have already spoken with the PSI and they were helpful in porviding me information in what I would need to do to have my qualifications recognised (straightforward enough it seems) - though if you know of anyone who's had trouble working with UK qualifications I'd be interested to hear. Also, are the pay scales detailed here http://www.psihq.ie/members_payscales.asp accurate still, and what kind of quality of life might we have on this salary in Ireland at the moment.

    Many thanks in advance.

The salary is good - ie better than most other professionals on a mental health team bar the psychiatrist. The recruitment bar in the HSE doesn't apply to psychologists.

    Have sent you a PM.
