Hi kids have lost the TV remote, if I buy a universal one online will it automatically work? Will I have to set anything up or just point and push the buttons? The TV is not HD just an oldish (7 years) Phillips TV.

    Thanks in advance

Get a Logitech Harmony remote. It works on everything. You input your tv brand or whatever into the application on the pc and it will know the commands straight away. It even knew the commands for a really old Bush HDtv that we have in the bedroom, as well as my Openbox, 360, surround system, projector and everything else. Highly recommended. I only have one remotw now instead of 6 or 7.
