Are you obsessed with airsoft ? It seems that most Airsofters I know are, me included. It's a large part of their lives and takes up a hell of a lot more time than just skirmishing , and of course being on here.

    I dream of it.

    How about you.

I wouldn't say obsessed, no. Addicted to Boards, yes. No question on that one. But to Airsoft? No.

For me, Airsoft is divided into 3 things:
    1.) Collecting
    2.) Loadout building/accumulating
    3.) Skirmishing

Collecting Airsoft devices is quite an interesting thing - I have always had an affliction with guns. I grew up with a lot of action movies, and as a result there are many guns that were glorified in such a way that they were imprinted in my mind. For example 80's cop movies used either the 1911, or the Beretta M9. The realism of the replica is quite important for me, and certainly adds to the enjoyment of playing.

Building a loadout is something that is akin to model-making. There is an exactness that I find enjoyable. It's one aspect that I haven't really bothered with as much as I would like, partly because I don't get to play half as much as would be preferable. It is a multifaceted part of Airsoft; loadouts for me are either one of two things:
    - Themed (historically accurate e.g. vietnam etc, fictional e.g. stargate, aliens etc, and more of the same)
    - Practical (different camouflage for different terrain, different rigs and set-ups, different gun combinations and set ups etc)

The last part is Skirmishing. This is seen as the primary part of Airsoft for most people, and it is certainly one of the most enjoyable. I mean, how can you not enjoy running around a site shooting people, and being shot at? Part of the fun, in my opinion, is the preparation involved; deciding what role you're going to play, what site you're going to go to etc. Oddly enough though, I would be one of the ones that doesn't take skirmishing seriously, at all. Sure, I enjoy getting better at shooting/adjusting aim etc, but I never lose sight of the fact that I'm running around and shooting people with 6mm plastic balls. It is pure hobby for me.

I went from obsession to a somewhat phasal situation where id go months caring a little, then play a lot, then drift out. At the moment its a mix. I have a lot of other things to do, so i juts dont have time to obsesss, but i Do muck around on boards, or elsewhere, or fiddle with kit more than I really should...

Do I have an airsoft problem?
Pah no, I can airsoft perfectly fine!

I have a life. That kind of precludes having an obsession.
