I had the same problem - I bought a touch screen on ebay for cheap. These come with 2 plastic tools to help remove the screen. Tricky removing the screen but there is another part called the digitizer which is a paper like connection between the touchscreen and the ipod. I broke the digitizer and had to order one as well on ebay. Bottom line is order a touch screen and digitizer and save yourself a lot of replacement problems.

FIX IT YOURSELF. IT IS SO EASY.

My 3rd Gen screen cracked no so long ago. I bought a screen for 12 euro and fixed it myself. I am 16 and have never opened up or fixed anything in my life. There is so many videos on youtube about how to do it.
    It's just a matter of:
    - Prying open the old screen. (Easier than it sounds)
    - Unclick the connector.
    - Click in the connector for the new screen.
    - Pop in the new screen.

Really, in all honesty, it is so easy and you save so much money.

EDIT: If you do decide to go through with it and need any help on it or have any questions, feel free to PM me. :D
