Hi every I have a question.

So to get a FETAC level 5 you study for one year.
For a level 6 you study for one more year.

So lets say I did a level 5 and 6. Could I go on to say an I.T. and for a single year thus giving me a level 7? Thats how im seeing it please correct me if im missing the mark :

Edit: Two threads were created for the same topic, can a mod delete the other one please.

Er, yes, if I understand you correctly. if you do level 5 you then go into 1st year IT, if you do level 6 and the college accepts it you could go straight into 2nd year.

Doylers - it depends on the course you are progressing to and also the exemptions that the IoT allow. Most will allow one year exemption with a FETAC Level 6 - ie entry into Year 2 and in some exceptional cases entry into Year 3.

Level 5 is the same standard as a Leaving Cert and not Year 1 of a Level 7 course. Currently FETAC students have the option of using their FETAC results to enter Year 1 of a Level 7 or 8 degree.

Alot of the IoTs have agreements in place with the larger FE college and state certain entry requirements for progression from FETAC Level 6. It is best to check with the IoT course you wish to progress to and work backwards.
