Alfa 159 estate.

Hello all, in need of some advice relating to another Alfa for a friend here!

He has a 2010 159 diesel estate and recently got a 'box' from a reputable guy put on it for more power torque and so on. However now it seems to have developed a weird problem. As he takes of and changes from second to third gear the car sort of pulls back as he comes off the throttle and then continues on as normal. It doesn't happen all the time but has become more obvious with this new box he has on it.

Have any of you any idea what it could be? I recommended that he take it back to the guy who sold him the box for it?

Any advice replies are greatly appreciated.

I assume this box invalidated the warranty as well?

Is it really wise to be playing around with stuff like that in an Alfa? I'd take that box out and be gone with it.

He says that it was happening before the box went in but it happened once every few weeks, now its far more common. Re the warranty apparently it is a genuine Alfa part and is very common practice in Europe, it does not invalidate the warranty though.

    Any thoughts?

I'd be getting the box removed, saying nothing, then going to the dealer.

Those add-on boxes only cause problems.
They fight with the ECU, the best thing to do is to take these boxes, load them into a catapult and fire them into orbit.
Only a proper remap of the ECU by a professional using a dyno will make sure that there are no problems.
You are giving the car two sets of instructions.

Remove the box for now and get the ECUs error codes read. Could any number of problems from that initial description.
