Cubase 5

Hi lads, just made the move from Cubasis VST 5 (which I bought about five years ago) to full Cubase 5 ... The basic soundset seems to be something called HalionOne and drums are GrooveOne.. The drums are fine but HalionOne is a little disappointing...

Is there a better full soundset that I can use to replace HalionOne? (i.e. rather than have to choose individual VST instruments..)

Halion One is the sampler instrument right?

Well as far as I can make out, it's the default set of basic instruments that audio is played back with in Cubase... but tbh it's not great.. even the old soundfont banks I used were better...

Is it the interface rather than the quality of the sounds provided you don't like about it or both?

Kontakt by NI is regarded as the most powerful sampler available.

They have a free version available cos they are a great bunch of lads. :)

A lot of sounds, probably most will support/work in Kontakt as it is very popular, should be plenty to download for that and NI have a lot of good Kontakt sample libraries.

Have to say the sounds are a bit disappointing.. I wouldnt consider it much better than the old Universal Sound Module... I used to replace a 250MB soundfont bank with old Cubasis, and this was far better..

But I also want to move away from soundfonts, so that I can export directly to MP3, without having to mix down the MIDI first..

Thanks for that flyswatter, just downloading this at the moment... I also downloaded the free version of Sampletank, but I've found the basses to be poor enough..
