This is pretty cool gimmebroadband. You see every kind of individual on the busy high street, accept leaflets, pocket em, move on, hear people busking, and various musicians and artists putting a talent on display - political marches, political protests etc. etc. etc. and of course people who are homeless and others who are begging...addicts etc. etc.

It's rare that you see anything like somebody proclaiming Jesus, short and concise - except in Church really, where preaching to the choir happens....well, particularly in the West anyways.

Although, I have witness some religious displays, mainly Hare Krishna ( I like thier drums..lol ) or at the doorstep, Lds.

I love the end when the crowd finally get the full picture of the idea of the display and clap, as awkward as it may have been initially. The 'uncomfortable' faces aside - it was worth doing imo! Why not? It made a few uncomfortable, and others cynical, and others couldn't resist bending their knee no matter! Cool! :)

Unleavened broad. Flour and water baked. As Christ used in the last supper. Take this all of your and eat it. This is my body.

Of all the beliefs it is one of the most central to the Church (east and West).

Spent many nights in prayer in various monasteries in Greece and Romania, and they are more hold as much Faith in the Eucharist as the east.

If only they had understood the meaning of Christ's words:
John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

He spoke of spiritual things, not of eating flesh and blood. Receiving Him in our hearts, not our mouths.

The Jews misunderstood His words and rebelled at the cannibalism they thought He meant. The Catholics think He justified cannibalism. True Christians know that He spoke of faith and repentance.

John 7:37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

If you wish to attack what we believe or insult our practices would you not be better taking this anti-catholic rhetoric to the Protestant\Catholic debate thread?

If it was a Catholic-only thread, I would not have intervened. But as it was open to all and I assume invited comment, I commented. If the OP wanted only supporting comments, he should have said.

If I have misunderstood correct procedure, I'll be glad of moderatorial guidance.

I think wolfsbane has actually been overall quite complementary. He noted that there was a lot of truth in the video, but ultimately that he doesn't believe that the host becomes the literal body of Christ. Rather the Eucharist is a symbolic reminder of Christ's sacrifice for mankind on the cross. I would largely agree with him while also saying that there is much to be praised in that video.

I presume when you used the word wafer you are probably Free Presbyterian?.

To understand what Catholics believe you really need to travel to the Orthodox church, To understand that from the very beginning the church believed in his real presence in the Eurcharist. The work itself is Greek and I presume you know what it means.

What Christ did had such and impact on the apostles that we know from very early on in the Church they did commemorate the last super.

Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Origen, Council of Nicaea I, Ambrose of Milan, Justin Martyr, Ignatius of Antioch.

The real presence of Christ was a given central faith in the church. It was celebrated in Greek.

Matthew 26:26-28 is clear enough... But Bible aside. The real presence in the Eurcharist was central to the Church.

Catholics believe this... and so do the Orthodox.

I have had several discussions with protestants on the Eucharist. It usually ends up going nowhere. They say they believe in Holy scripture, but what they believe in is their interpretation of this bible.

The sum total of what wolfsbane said is "Truth defiled", with a delicate salting of blasphemy. Your generosity is noted but his original statement is hardly complementary.

The moderators can deal with the Charter.

Perhaps you would care to define what you mean by "defiled" and "wafer-god"?

36.—(1) A person who publishes or utters blasphemous matter
shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable upon conviction on
indictment to a fine not exceeding \25,000.
    (2) For the purposes of this section, a person publishes or utters
    blasphemous matter if—
    (a) he or she publishes or utters matter that is grossly abusive
or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any
religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial
number of the adherents of that religion, and
    (b) he or she intends, by the publication or utterance of the
matter concerned, to cause such outrage.

Complete and utter rubbish, and a deliberate misrepresentation of what Catholics believe.

It is the body, soul, and divinity of the risen and glorified Christ.
It is a complete metaphysical change, not a physical one.

Let it stand where it is now as an example of your own defilement.

Nothing will be moved. But any more squabbling, baiting or coat-trailing will be infracted.

Well, I think it's rather obvious that Catholics believe in the 'real' very real presense in the Eucharist, and mass, and others believe that it is merely symbolic etc. That's not a shock to any of us here, I would imagine....

I think we could discuss this elsewhere and it may be of benefit to all of our understanding and being understood too. Even if we agree to disagree ultimately - no harm in talking about it on a new thread or whatever, without doing down the theme of the thread..proclaiming the Gospel on the streets no matter - That's what freedom allows and the good Monk demonstrated!

Actually, the 'breaking of bread' and 'miracles of bread' themselves and how it is so important in Scripture is fascinating - right back to the 'Temptation of Christ' after being baptised in the Jordan. It plays such a significant role that it would be worth discussing with leavened heads..lol..and some patience.

Why did you not take it there originally ?
Because I was interested in commenting on this post. It is a difficult call - as alex73 point out, not everything can be reduced to a Prod/Cath debate; yet many things do touch on the differences.

Should I ignore the differences and not comment? Comment as I did? Or post the comment on the Prod/Cath Debate thread, with a ref. back to the original thread, and a ref. forward on the original thread?

On reflection, I think I should have done the latter. I don't know if there is a technical way of doing it, so I'm just going to repost my last replies there and give the necessary refs.

    See Protestant/Catholic Debate thread, p29

My apologies for disturbing the thread.

@wolfsbane I think your posts were good. Of course I don't share your views, but they were reasoned..

But the Eucharist is pretty central to the Church east and west. Saints, Mystics, visionaries, Eucharistic miracles themselves attest to this.

I suppose its a case of For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible.

We may differ as to the meaning of the 'real presence', for some that's found in the eucharist; for other's it's the presence of Jesus in our lives. Whatever our understanding of that is - Jesus was proclaimed on those streets and his presence was there. The Spirit of god uses every opportunity to raise the name of Jesus - it is not a validation of particular beliefs it is an indication that the Holy Spirit is at work as per Isaiah .
