For 100km+ spins you're better off with a drop handle bar type road bike. You can buy online but if you're starting out, I think you're better off buying through a Local Bike Shop who can help with selecting the correct size, fitting, service and repairs.

There are plenty of entry / beginner level road bikes around €1000 from all the big brands such as Trek, Giant, Specialized, Cube, Lapierre , Scott, etc available in bike shops so you should have a lot of choice, although at his time of year some models / frame sizes will be sold out. At €1000, all will be aluminium frames with good quailty components and more than adequate for 100km spins.

You'll also need to allow for clothing and accessories, helmet, pump, bottle cages, saddle bag, mini tool & repair kit.

Is the Bike to Work Scheme open to you? That could save (or increase you budget) by €200 - €400
