Where to find replica (fake) bucket seats?

    Hi everyone,

I have been trying to find replica (fake) fixed back bucket seats but I am having no luck at all.

I am building a sim racing cockpit and I am trying to find a good seat for it. So it does not have to be FIA approved or anything like that as I wont be hurting my self when racing games indoors.

All I want is a seat that looks the part and is nice to be in for longer periods of time.

Would like it if it was a store or something like that in or around Dublin.

    Any ideas?

    Dondeal, gumtree.

Hi again and huge thanks for answers.

I have been on adverts, gumtree and donedeal and I do find seats there but they are always to far away for me to pick them up with out a car. Thats kinda why I need to find something in or around Dublin (should maybe have explained that better). But I always try to keep an eye out on those sites and there has been a couple of cheap options there but everytime there is a good one for cheap money I'm always to late to get it. Can't check during the day because of work.

And most of the ones on those sites are "real" ones and still cost a good bit. I have found seats online in stores but it ends up costing to much to ship for me to justify buying them. Saying that I did find a OMP seat that looked ok for 180€. But I was hoping to find a replica (should cost a lot less) as I do not care if the seat is safe or not.

    Hope I am making sens.

Would you conciser a normal car seat.

I spotted an FTO breaking at the breakers at the read cow interchange a while back. The seats sort of looked the part and are comfier.

At least its in dublin and they wont go for big money as there not really sought after.

The FTO seats are quite nice, always a few for sale on www.fto-ireland.com

The FTO seats do look ok to be honest.

Will maybe see if I can find something like that.

    Thanks for your answers =)

Get an out of date racing car/rally seat.

Once they go over a certain age, they loose their homologation and are basically useless to anyone wanting to compete with them. I'm guessing they'd be pretty easy to pick up at a reasonable price.

I think Red power do replica recaros and brides, or evo recaros go for little money these days ;)

Would really love to get my hands on a old rally seat but I would have no idea where to go and look for one. Just wish I could find somewhere or some one that had some. I mean there must be loads of people that have some that they can't use anymore and I would love to take one them.

That red motors place, I found ads from them on gumtree and donedeal and emailed them but no answer yet. Maybe have to phone them instead.

Any ideas of sommewhere I could find old rally seats? Because they do really really look the part. Hmm must some rally forum or something that could have one or two.

    Thanks for ideas people ;-)

Dtdirl.com and Octane.ie both have rally specific forums on them, I'm sure there's more but that's just off the top of my head. Also there's a motorsport forum on boards, have a look round and ya may find someone with an old one sitting round in their garage!

How much are you looking to spend? There are a set of Sparco fixed bucket seats on DTDirl.com at the moment for €200

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 286 ✭✭c0rn3y

    Thanks Graham_B18C & BDJW,

Those Sparco's look really nice and 200€ sounds ok to me. Could maybe take them both and build two sims and sell the other one to my cuz.

I registered my self on the dtdirl.com forum but it takes for ever to get it activated so I can answer the ad. With my luck they will be gone by the time I'm aloud to answer.

But thanks for the links =)

You need to be an Elite member on DTD to reply to ads, just send the seller a PM. You need to start a newb thread before you can post too AFAIK

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 286 ✭✭c0rn3y

    Hi again,

I can't send any PM's I just tried and now somebody else seems to be there before me. As always I get there to late even when I really try.

I remember a while ago seeing a thread where there was 2 similair saloon civics in seperate car crashes. Both had recaro's. One of them had fake Recaro's and they were mangled afterward.

Seeing as you don't want a specific brand you've a good pick of the market tbh and they're not too expensive nowadays.

    Have a look here. http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/road-car-seats/road-car-budget-seats/cat_160.html

    http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/brand/cobra-seats/cobra-fia-racing-bucket-seats/cobra-seats-monaco-pro-fia-approved-bucket-seat/prod_655.html

Note to self, read all the thread.

Very nice job man, I was just an on-looker during your search for the bucket seat, As I know very little about bucket seat(s) and what not.

The only thing is, Where is your seat belt? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 286 ✭✭c0rn3y

Hehe i know some people that use seat belts, gloves and even a helmet when they sim race just to make feel "real", that is taking it just a bit to far for me hehe.
