    Have you tried calling Ryanair?

    Realistically:
    1) Call Ryanair, ask them to change, hope they do it for free but expect a charge of some kind.
    2) risk it at the Airport, knowing most gate agents don't check to see if the numbers match. It's a helluva gamble, though.

Try #1, failing that #2 is your only choice.

I have never, ever seen them trying to match document numbers. Names, sure. But passport numbers? The passport number is not even printed on the boarding pass. They would have to bring it up on their own computer to check.

It still is a gamble of course... but the odds are massively in your favor.

they swipe the passport barcode in something that reads all info like that, im sure if there is something off the system will tell them! As your Passport number is in that barcode they swipe!

    No they don't.

Op, I could only see this being an issue if you're going to Spain where your passport details are required.

Sorry this is not correct, I doubt they have the means and the authority to do so considering a Passport is not necessary for flying to the UK. Could never understand this rule they selectively choose to enforce themselves without any foundation whatsoever, that's Ryanair for ya.

undo is fairly spot on, most of the time they don't bother matching numbers, would be far too time consuming and they are only interested in checking the name and herding you on.

My understanding is that unlike Aer Lingus, Ryanair don't have the facility for advance passenger information to Spain, so they ask all passengers the same info and pass on what they have to.

If you're not going to Spain you should be ok.

well what is the point then of scaning the barcode dose anyone know???

Common sense tells me that there must be many more people who mistype their passport number - and never notice. If Ryanair did weed out passengers whose passport number is off by a digit, I am quite sure we would have heard a lot about it in the past.

They could still do a random spot check any moment of course. But it seems extremely unlikely.

They need to record who has actually got on the flight.
