At the early stages of planning a rainwater harvesting project and have seen this stuff before. I was hoping it might reduce filter change intervals and reduce the gutter cleaning intervals also.
Anyone got any thoughts on it or possible suppliers?

Any builders probviders will have it in 4 meters lengths for around 15 euro.

You can buy it in Woodies, but they want 20 euro for it.

Cheers Paddy, I've never seen it for sale or noticed it installed. Does it come with some kind of fixings and is it very noticeable when installed?

Ted Johnson (Naas) were promoting the Gutter Hedgehog a while back but leaves in gutters are not a big problem for me so I wasn't really interested. I have no idea of price.

Its just a big long flexi wire with brush/bristles on it and it just sits into the gutter and stops crud and crap from settling in the gutter.

Cheers Brian & Paddy that gutter hedgehog looks interesting. I've got a few really tall deciduous trees near my house so it would be a big help I think.

I looked at that a few weeks ago and it's crazy money, but the one thing I think with it is that wet leaves will stick to it, I think a mesh would work much better

Lidl had it on special a while back.
I bought a load of it inadvertently, sent the wife to get it.
It comes in 7m lengths but they had it marked as 7000mm
She told me it was 70cm lengths :D
It works very well. I have a lot of trees around me and this has stopped all the problems with leaves.

Hi Ponddigger, yes as per my opening post I am planning to put in some rain water harvesting, I had planned to do it for a long time and the imminent water charges are just whats needed to get things moving!
CJ, yes it seems that Aldi had that mesh available at some stage also:

Is it fiddly to fit with the plastic clips etc?

Finally I might take some of your excess off you if you're interested in selling it?

Spoke with Goodwins there and the Hedgehog is 22 euro / 4 metre length so about 5 euro a metre. Might give it a go as I've only got about 12 metres of guttering I think.

air youtube rainwater harvesting first flush, and you will see a way of taking leaves out of water even a diy version

    Hi Daithi,
Thanks, Im aware of first flush systems etc and indeed intend to fit them when the time comes, however the filter in a first flush will still have to be cleaned out occasionally. I'd prefer to get the roof and gutters pretty clean to start off with, cover off the guttering with guards and then go from there.

Air, I'd be grateful if you could share where you managed to source your gutter covers from? I'm starting to build a rain water harvesting system & would like to incorporate gutter covers to stop leafs & other debris from getting into the rain water. Having trouble locating anything in Ireland.

I got some of it in the pound shops in NI.
Might be worth checking out those type of shops too.
