Plumbing pump not knocking off

I have an apartment (duplex if that matters) and the pump kicks in for flushing the toilet and shower as well as taps in the kitchen and bathroom.

Nothing is running and the pump is still going. I went out yesterday for the day and got into bed late last night and couldn't sleep because I thought upstairs were running a bath ( we can hear their pump too). I got up to find it was our pump and it was boiling hot. It had been on all day.

The last thing I had done leaving the house was flush the toilet. I took the back off and the ballcock had stopped the flow like its suposed to but there was a trickle running down the inside of the toilet bowl.

I turned the pump off at the switch and said I'd look at it today. I sorted the trickle in the toilet but the pump still goes.

This week we have been experiencing weird tap problems. The kitchen will have full pressure water and the bathroom sink and shower would have none and then the kitchen would have none and the bathroom would.

Anything I should do before calling a plumber?

We haven't turned any valves or pressed any buttons for this to start

    Cheers

Really sounds like there is a problem with the flow switch on the pump.

The pump is hard to get in at. I just got in there and the ground underneath it is wet

loose pipe maybe or burnt out pump?

Sounds like the ballvalve needs adjusting, its overflowing into the pan, the macerator pump is trying to clear the excess water.

    Hi Billy

I adjusted the ballstop so the excess does not trickle in the bowl. I got in at the pump and the hotpress floor in wet so I have plumber coming tomorrow.

The pump still is continuous after adjusting ballstop

    Thanks for your reply
