iPhone 4 Home Button Not Working

    Hi all,

I have my iPhone 4 now about 5 weeks, and within the last week, the home button is starting to act up. Sometimes it works, and then other times it just refuses to work at all.

Has anyone here experienced this? If so how did they go about getting it fixed? I was thinking about going to the apple store in Belfast to see if they could fix it there, but I don't want to waste a drive going up with it when they can do nothing.

So if anyone could give me advice to what I should do with it to get it working again I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Patrick

Go to Belfast. they should be able to give you a replacement on the spot.

I had this problem. A good blast of canned air into the dock connector sorted it out.

Had the same problem. If you want to ring apple support they can organise replacing the phone, you send it to them and when it's received they send a replacement.

Or what I did was, as you suggested, go to the belfast store. Make a genius appointment before you go up (this is just an appointment with an apple technician). The phone will be replaced with a new phone, as I was told the home cannot be replaced or fixed by itself because it is part of the main body of the phone or something like that.

I've had the same problem with my iPhone a few weeks ago. Check out this video I made. It's has 12,000 views in 3 months.

I sent it off to Apple for repair as it was only about 4-5 weeks old at the time and they sent it back to me unrepaired so I ended up taking it apart and fixing it myself!

Try to hoover the bottom of the iphone where you plug it in, apparently if any dust or grit gets in it can stop the home button working.

Same problem with a 10 month old iPhone4.
Just booked the express replacement service with Apple.

Hopefully the 500 euro hold on my credit card wont become permanent.

Thanks a million for all your replies, I think I will take a trip up to Belfast early next week, and hope they give me one on the spot! Knowing my luck when I go to show them the problem it will work flawlessly with no problems :P

    Thanks again all,

    Patrick
