    Hey all

My fiance is a fire breather and has a job tonight and id like to take some pics, i wanted to practise before the gig but we wont have time now. Has anyone any tips on shooting something like this as previous experiences havent been great, id either shoot on a slow shutter to catch the flame but end up blurring her, or a high shutter which caught her but hardly any flame. I have a 70-200 mm 50mm and 20mm to use and a flash fun.

    Thanks in advance

I would image you could use a longish exposure and the flash for fill.

So 1/30ish shutter speed and set the flash to second curtain sync.
That way you'll freeze the performer and get nice flames. You'll have to dial in the aperture and ISO to balance the light.

A bit late here, but I would prob also use a warming gel on the flash, prob a CTO or at least 1/2 CTO so that your fill light from the flash balances with the warm light of the flame, making it look like all the light is from the fire..... depending on where you position your flash of course and what modifier you use.
