Hey, first year student here of geograph. Was always looking to doing the single honours program with geography because it was by far my most interesting subject. Any ways i ended up getting a 588 in geography alot lower considering the ammount of work i put in :S.

I know that to get into the single honours i would of needed a 550 or 55% average so would anybody who is after finishing second year/third year be able to assure me that Im still on track to get in?? like could this figure rise because im nearly at the bare minimum to enter it... and ive always looked forward to getting into it. The lecturer in charge of the single honours held a lecture one day during geography saying that people who get a bit below the threshold will even be considered so that looks good for me as-well.. Am i over-reacting or should i email somebody.

    thanks
    A.Z

Hi, I'm just finished second year and I'm doing a 'major' in geography. Not the same as single honours, i take 40 credits in geog and 20 in my minor, instead of the usual 30/30. I think there are only 2/3 people doing single honours in my year. My advice would be if you found geog hard, as in you put in a lot of effort and didn't get the high results you expected then maybe you should consider the major/minor option instead of just single honours!
You will get sent out a letter automatically, seeing as you got about 55, asking if you want to partake in the single honours or major/minor program, so i wouldn't worry too much about it :) If you are worrying just send the lecturer a quick email, he's very approachable so he'll put your mind at ease!
Hope this helps, pm me if you've any questions about the major/minor program, or the single honours as one of my friends is doing that!
    Laura.
