And out of the World Championships. I guess we will have to wait until London next year for the ultimate smackdown between him, Bolt and Powell.

That is such an enormous shame. Was looking forward to the showdown in Daegu. It is something that would have been huge for the sport, and I think he could have taken Bolt to be honest.

The US trial system of selecting athletes is not the fairest at times. He could be back running 9.7s in a month and wont be able to take his place at the worlds.

Don't know much about the US system myself but he ran 9.79 a few weeks ago. You'd have thought what would have been enough!

Add in the fact that Justin Gatlin qualified for the US team coming 2nd and it was a pretty terrible day for the 100 meters competition in Korea.

Powell might not make it. Ran a 9.99 wind assisted in the prelims. Compare that to 9.83 and 9.86 (wind assisted) runs from Blake and Frater granted only the heats but with them and Carter (10.05) Mullings (10.13) and Forsythe he will have his work cut out

Isn't Mullings a former drug cheat? Why do people seem to ignore things like that for some people and constantly bring it up when talking about others (Chambers for example).

I love the guy and all but this is a Bushesque quote
"It's pretty painful running in pain"

Not ignoring it but being eligible to compete now his drug history does not change the fact he is one of the favourites for one of the spots on the team. Just like Gatlin. Dont agree with it but its fact

I'll boo the 2 of them in Daegu anyway, along with a certain female sprinter who I will not mention for fear of breaching the charter but I suspect you know who I'm talking about :)

I don't agree with drug cheats coming back into the sport, so if showing my disgust in a small low profile manner makes me feel better then so be it. :)

Dont waste my time with the negative aspects :( focus on the positives :D like Rupp finishing a 10k in 1.52.59 for last 800m or Lagat running sub 4 last mile to hold off Solinsky barely. Alot of the Americans developing finishing speed which will help them compete at championships hopefully

Are there videos of the races anywhere?

Powell won from Blake and Mullings.

    Here's the 100 final:

All other races listed along the left had side of that page.

Disappointing, yes, but Bolt isn't exactly light-years ahead of the rest of the field just yet (may change by Daegu) so it may be pretty competitive anyway.

Gay can still be on the relay team, so maybe if we can organise for both of them to run the third leg, we might salvage some sort of a match up!

But can the US match the Jamaicans in the relay? Bolt,Powell,Blake and Mullings against Gay,Dix,Gatlin and Rodgers I think it could be already decided by the time they get the respective batons.
I think a matchup over the summer in a DL may be on the cards late summer now that head games for the WC are not a factor though hard to call.

No Gay in the 200 meter first round means no Gay in Daegu.

I'm not sure about Gay being on the relay given that he will not be there for any individual events.

Jeremy Warriner well beaten in the mens 400 too.

Yes, assuming good baton technique and Powell not pulling up injured, Jamaica have the edge for sure. Maybe put Gay and Bolt on leg 1?! :pac:

Anti-climax, but a bust up in Zurich or Brussels is probably the climax of the Gay vs. Bolt story this year.
