at the bottom of the page, 27 euro for 200 fags, that can't be rite?? there must be some catch??
Why are you so surprised that duty-free cigarettes are relatively inexpensive, given the fact that the bulk of cigarettes' price is comprised of duty?

You won't get them that cheap as an EU citizen, in any case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,647 ✭✭✭✭El Weirdo

That price is only on flights in or out of the EU. Doesn't matter if you're an EU citizen or not.

There's also a limit on the amount you can bring into the country without paying duty.

    Brining cigarettes into the ireland:

Ah yes the new John Player Salty...don't think they'll catch on.

What's the reason for being reasonable?

    Is that an unreasonable question?

About a million according to the Irish Customs website. No need to check that by the way...their websites down...

What's the reason for being reasonable?

Only if they're for yourself. Tell them you plan to sell them on, and they will issue you with a bill which you can pay in your own time, if they're for yourself, you have to pay upfront.

Exactly...and they'll give you 3-6 months to pay.

    3 months with good behaviour.

We need an evil smiley...with a pointed grin.

OP you do realise you will only get that price going to and from non EU countries right?
Alcohol and cigarettes will not be sold on flights within the EU or on flights to the USA departing Dublin Terminal 2 (Passengers now complete full US customs and Immigration checks before departing Terminal 2 therefore Duty Free items are not sold onboard)

    Cheers chucken1.

I was flying through Heathrow from Bucharest last year with 3 bottles of wine. Went through customs and they asked me to show them the receipts for the wine. It took me about 10 minutes to find the receipt. If I hadn't found it, they would have taken the bottles off me.

So the moral is, even if there is no limit to what you can bring, make sure you have the receipts with you :D

The personel limit is actually 3200 cigarettes ;)

I'm going to Cuba next week and looking to buy a few of the locals so I can start making Cuban cigars here in Ireland. I've asked the IDA and they called the Gardai on me so I can't get a straight answer. Anyone know?
