Did my Leaving Cert this year but to me I didn't really think about what I could get or wanted to get in the Junior Cert. When I got my mock results there were one or 2 subjects I wanted to improve on. I wanted to get an A in maths as well. I didn't do much work for the Junior Cert (or Leaving for that matter :o) and I came out with 4 As and 7 Bs.

I was really surprised at some of the results (English = A, had a shíte teacher for 2 years, out vice taught us for 3 weeks before the exam because the teacher fecked off.. That's why I got an A. Irish = B, thought I had failed!)

You'll nearly always do better than you expect in the JC. The exam is designed that way.

Firstly even though I was big into school and doing well in my exams, I don't think I was as stressed, worried, anxious etc. as everyone in this thread seem to be. Just did the exams, no post mortems and the rest. Most of my class were the same.

But back on point, I suppose I thought I'd get a few A's, few B's and a C or two. Got 8A's, 2B's and a C. Hated Maths and science, but managed to get A's in both somehow and that really did give me the confidence to take up science subjects and hl maths for the leaving. All goes well I'll be a qualified maths and science teacher in 4 years time :D

Don't get worked up about the junior cert. It's good to do well, but looking back it really isn't that important. More of a preparation for the leaving. More importantly I think is that if you do TY, to develop as a person, and find out what you're interested in.

So basically I was pleasantly surprised with my results, sorry for going off point :P

the difference between lc is frightening:eek: i got an A in science without much work, but by god chemistry is hard and i spend i alot of time on it. Like the above said thats the way the jc is designed. Just dont let your good jc leave you fall into a false sense of security in fifth year, and you will fly the lc:D

yep...I was aiming for 11 As, but was certain I wouldn't get it. After doing the exams, was sure I had a B in Business and Music and would have been ok with a B in English or Irish, simply because they can be a little unpredictable.

...I got a very pleasant surprise on the day, not gonna lie :3

I honestly thought I had gotten below a C in English and Irish and I ended up getting A's in honours. In most of the subjects, I thought I had done worse than I actually did and ended up with 7A's and 3Bs so I think that you always assume that you have done worse than you actually have!

Hopefully I will have a similar experience in English. I felt I did an extremely poor essay question but it's one subject where I could be pleasantly surprised.

Matthew you did the JC this year?

Yes, hence the condescending comments in the politics forum.
