Viewing cards

I keep a collection of viewing cards, mostly from Sky but have also acquired a few NTL and UPC ones. Thought I'd share what I have, I don't think I'm breaking any rules as these are all expired cards.

I'm missing the Sky analogue 03, 09 and 10 cards (the two middle ones here), I really want to get them but I've pretty much written off the 03 as I'd say they're extremely rare. I'm also missing the original 1998 Sky Digital egg logo card, again I'm probably unlikely to find this one. I've no current ones (white Sky and UPC Nagra 3 cards) but I'm sure they'll come up in time, plenty of them out there.

In the photo:

Sky analogue: 05, 06, 07 (badly worse for wear), 11 and 12
Sky digital: 2nd and 3rd issue cards (light blue and yellow house)
NTL/UPC: NTL Nagra 1 card, two UPC Nagra 2 cards with old and new logo respectively.

I was lucky to find the 05 and 06 cards on eBay, they came in their original envelopes with Sky promotional material from the day. Looks as if they've never been used as the chips have no scratch marks on them.

So if anyone knows where I could find a Sky 09 or 10 card please let me know! They were issued in 1994 and 1995.

Dang! I'm sure I had one like the one you call "09" around the house for the last few years - hope I didn't use it to spread epoxy.....

The 10 looks familiar too....
I'll have a poke around over the next few weeks.

I have a Sky yellow house one (dunno year of issue) and a MCT (Multi Channel Television) Viaccess card I guess I picked up in a Sky box at the dump, as is my wont.....

You are welcome to any and all of them whenever I find them - I only collect (ex)wives - alas a much more expensive hobby.

The numbers I've used are the issue numbers, they're printed on the back of the card. On the 05 and 06 cards (presumably the 03 too) it was part of the viewing card number, from 07 onwards it was in small print on the back of the card.

I already have two, if not three, yellow house cards so I'm good for these.

Thanks to another eBay auction I now have 09 and 10.



The auction was for 7 cards in total, 09, two 10s, 11, two 12s and one light blue Sky Digital card.

So my current situation is:

Sky analogue: 05, 06, 07, 09, two 10s, two 11s and three 12s
Sky Digital: Two light blue cards, three yellow houses
NTL/UPC: NTL Nagra 1, UPC Nagra 2 (old logo), UPC Nagra 2 (new logo)

I really didn't think I'd get the Sky Digital egg logo card but luckily managed to find one. Below is the only bugger I'm missing now (with the exception of the current issue cards). Thanks to a poster on Digital Spy I have a better photo of it, this is an issue 02 card. He also has what seems to be a 05 in this style, it's not the same as my 05 that's for sure.

And now I got it! This just shows the analogue cards by the way.



03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 09, 10, 11 and 12. I'm missing 02 but it looks exactly the same as 03 and 04, just a different issue number and expiry date. 02 expired in April 1990 and 03 expired in July 1990 so they didn't last long - Sky had originally intended to replace the cards every 3-6 months apparently!
