iPod sync query

I would like to add new tunes to my iPod but am worried that itunes will sync by iPod and I will lose all the tunes that I've had on it for years. The problem is that my computer was recently backed up by a technician and he wiped all my itunes. Any suggestions how I can add new tunes without losing the old tunes that aren't backed up?

    Thanks

Use sharepod to put files from your iPod back onto your PC

There are quite a few backup programs available, I used one before, worked perfectly and now can't find the name, I'm sure somebody here will recommend one. I would defiantly try and backup first before I sync'd tho, you would loose all the tunes on it if you don't.

Is it not possible to just manually add new tunes to the existing collection without syncing it to a library?

    I'm not sure about that?

There's a command (look it up) for when you plug in your ipod that it won't automatically sync. Then click "manually manage music" and then add songs at your leisure!

And also if you want to backup(recommended) use SharePod. It's great.
