Free Ferrari servicing

    For the mobile heads:
Ferrari has announced an astonishing no-cost servicing deal that covers all the scheduled maintenance for its cars - regardless of mileage - for seven years, something it says is unique in the luxury car segment.

The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance programme covers all new Ferrari California, 458 Italia and FF models and is being offered as standard and at no extra cost. Better still, it 'sticks' to a single car, so is transferrable between owners.

The deal covers all standard maintenance items, as outlined in the service schedule. It's been designed to anticipate one service each year during the seven years, but, as there is no mileage restriction, owners who reach the service intervals by mileage (every 12,500miles) will be able to have their car serviced more than once per year.

The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance programme will be supplied as standard with all Ferrari California, 458 Italia and FF models delivered from 15 March 2011.

Curious offer as I doubt anyone buying Ferrari gives much thought to the cost of servicing. Maybe they are trying to appeal to the kind of buyer who would be considering a Kia.

However, if I was considering an Aston, SLS or whatever then this does make it easier to go straight to the Ferrari showroom I suppose.

They must be in need of a few more sales if they are offering this sort of thing.

Now that the servicing is sorted, I'm off to Modena to order her up, just need to stop by the bank for my €300,000- oh wait, sh1t....!!

Dunno about that. I reckon there are a fair few Porsche buyers that are too scared of Ferrari maintenance bills to buy a Ferrari. Hell I'd be less scared of buying a Lamborghini than a Ferrari in terms of servicing!!!

Some move by Ferrari alright. Maybe a new trend to offer several years free servicing? BMW started it a few years ago by offering 5 year servicing packages at very low prices when you bought a new car.

Good move. As Unkel notes many people view a Porsche as a glorified VW in terms of servicing, but Ferraris scare them.

I'd imagine this would have a big effect on the second and subsequent owners.
For someone who is able to buy a brand new 200k Ferrari dropping 10k euro on a service wouldn't be a big deal, but for someone who has bought a 4 year old 70k ferrari it would be tougher.

(just pulling numbers out of the air to illustrate my point)

This of course indirectly benefits aswell as directly benefits the first owner by not only making their car cheaper to keep but also meaning it will be easier to offload when after a few years they get bored and want something new.

    absolutely...

a lot of people who would have 70k to spend on a car would never dream of a ferrari .. becuase the maint cost would be astromonical...
this should help with used car prices for ferrari......

Yes, but only when these new cars come on the second hand market in 2 years plus. Like the VRT change- it will decrease the value of new Ferraris bought in the past few months!!

Yep, and it should help to improve the general condition of used Ferraris, once it's been going for a few years. One of the worst things that can happen to a sports car is that it gets bought by someone who can't afford the servicing costs.

But I wonder how they plan on saving all that money to cover the costs?
