I bought an item and it was faulty, I notified the company and they have agreed to replace the item. Are the company obliged to repay me for the cost of posting the item back to them?

If you purchased the item online, then the retailer should reimburse you for returning the faulty goods.

When company receive product and see a manufacturing fault, then they should credit you with your postage costs. Did you ask them?

Thanks for the quick replys. Yes I asked them about postage and they said as I sent the item back they were not obliged to refund the postage. Does anybody have a link to comsumer law that covers this?

I believe, in short, you are stuffed.

You should always consult the retailer before returning any item for any reason, regardless of how right you [think you] are. They will advise on how to proceed. Maybe they would have organised a pickup.

Depends on which country the retailer is selling from.

But since you've already posted it you more then likely will have to live with the loss as you never gave them the opportunity to arrange collection.
