The parents house has a very high radon reading, so I need to put in a radon sump.

Anyone any experience of this, I assume I'll need to cut a core out of the wall in under the foundation??

I have put in plenty of them but on new builds and the whole raft is then covered with a radon barrier. This gives the radon gas no option to escape only through the sump and escape pipe. Im not certain but I think just digging a sump on its own would'nt achive much.

Moving this to Construction & Planning forum as it's not a Farming & Forestry topic :)

RPII document with regard to existing houses and possible remedial works.

would you be better off, installing a demand controlled mechanical extract system. there normally hooked up to a Relative Humidity & Co2 sensor but maybe this could be reworked to a radon sensor?

Radon levels are so low that I wouldn't trust a sensor, we have no idea of dispersion either.
