So totally depressed over AAFRP, don't know if I passed or failed or if I can write off that 1 indicator now or not.

Point of this thread though is to ask, has anyone got a study plan done? Any tips on the best way to approach study leave to make the best use of my time? Appealing to those already on study leave

I was told best way forward it case studies case studies case studies, although there isnt many of those about. Also maybe the FR cases in the textbook could be a good start aswell to reinforce your standards etc.

Very daunting, im not gettin off to after the mocks. So dreading this.

    R u off yet?

Im not getting off until after the mocks either, heard the best way to go is through case studies aswell, the FR cases are good, but the MABF are daunting to say the least.

Tell me about it i looked at couple in book last weekend and it took me 2 hours to figure the hell out where they got the starting figure of for a cashflow in the answer, though them questions would be more technical but the way i see it if you can get your head around that, when it comes to the main core and sim cases you will pick out the indicators no bother... so maybe couple weeks on those books then the core and sim cases could be a good start. .... what you think?

    absolutely,
i did sign up to the case study prep thing that the chartered grind school are putting on, hoping that might steer me in the right direction.

There are only so many case studies . . .

Having failed the Core last year, I'll be only doing case studies as practice this time around. Reading all them books is a waste of time believe me, way too techical. The majority of stuff revolves around the actual case study thats given on the day and practicing case studies seems the best way to go about it. I made a balls of it last year, didn't really do any writing on study leave and in the exam just hadn't prepared for four hours of writing. Might sound silly but i think actually writing out the sample case studies will be good practice!

From talking to people who did it last year the management accounting case studies is an absolute waste of time and you shouldn't even look at it. Financial reporting one is meant to be brilliant though. I have a breakdown of how I'm going to approach each subject in the other FAE thread 'FAE where to begin' or something like that. I got all my information from talking to lecturers and people who passed first time last year. I can copy and paste in here if ye want but it should be easy enough to find. I don't think I've ever been so scared about exams 2 months before they start.

So now that exam leave is beginning for most people over the next week or so I was just wondering how people feel they stand for the finals.

Ive been trying to study for the last few weeks but i think the fact that the actual finals are 8 weeks away makes them feel a bit unreal. There doesn't seem to be any great rush to crack the books open and start doing questions.

Maybe the mocks will give me the kick up the ass i was looking for.

I've been off since last week...just getting notes together and organising things so far, will probably get cracking on the case studies this week.

Is anyone looking at the online revision lectures? I've had a look at Derry Cotter's and it was pretty good...what are the ones worth looking at?

In terms of case studies, what do we have: obviously all the ones in the resource pack, the FR book and the mgmt acc and finance book, anything in sample papers and last years paper....anywhere else we could find a few case studies to practice?

I've been on study leave since Tuesday and I'll I've managed so far is to get my notes organised and watch a couple of the lectures re: exam layout and marking system.

The amount of notes and books is scary, I've been looking at tax this morning, but very little is going in and I'm not exactly flying through the notes.

Panic has yet to set in so I'm finding it difficult to study, also contemplating on not doing the mocks next week as it would be a waste of time given I've covered little or nothing in most subjects!

I feel so worried about these exams there is just so much to do for them. I don't think I'm gonna have anything to write in the mocks next week at all! For tax is the book the best way to study for it? Tax and performance measurement are my biggest concerns! I have been off for a few weeks and feel like I have nothing done!
