Hi Guys and Girls, I am conducting a study on tone and pitch in greetings and it’s regional variation in different languages so I am looking for some volunteers to say “hi how are you” or its equivalent in their native language. The languages which I wish to record and use for my data are:
English (UK, American, Australian, African based accents)
Chinese (mandarin, Wu, Cantonese, Yue, min)
Indian (Bengali, Hindi, Urdu based accents)
    Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil)
    Russian (various regional examples)
    German (various samples)
    Japanese (various samples)
Spanish (Spain and South American samples)
    Italian
    French
    Korean
So If you are free over the next few days for ten minutes and can meet in the city centre (Dublin) then I’d like to hear from you.
    Thank you
    Regards
    John

hi, why don't you let people record their voice and email to you? It d be easier.

What he said :D, If you can record yourself saying the greeting onto your PC by going to the programs menu>Accessories menu> voice recorder and save this as a wma or mp3 file, then send this onto dejohnin@yahoo.ie that would be great. Ideally give the message in english first , then in your native tongue and save it as a (your language).wma file/mp3 etc
Not sure on the procedure for macs sorry...
Say the greeting as if you were saying hello to a friend.

    Cheers
