    Ok the Title says it all.I have a UPC Digital recorder

    BBC are the worst offenders. Have a series link and each time I look at each episode the last few minutes are not recorded. Tried messing around on their menu to see how can I extend the recording by extra 4 minutes via series link but nothing.

    Anyone know how to do it ?

    On mine it's Menu->Digital Video Recorder->Settings

    Be warned though, two recordings with sequential times will now trigger a "recording overlap" problem.

    That's silly enough as it is (I would think "overrun time by x minutes, unless another recording is scheduled" would be a more sensible way to do it), but it's even more annoying if the two are on the same channel.

    So

    BBC One 16:00-17:00
    and BBC One 17:00-17:30
    would trigger an overlap warning even though you obviously don't need the first to overrun, since any lost content will at least be in the second.

    Not so bad since two recordings at once was introduced but still...

    I'm having an issue of programmes not recording. Have them in series link it even just one programme and come in later and they haven't. Only have it 2weeks but wtf like.

    Are you sure they're still set to record. There was a UPC update this week which wiped the series links. You should have got a letter if you're affected. Check under TV Planner to see if they're still there.

    I've found the UPC series link to be next to useless. It frequently misses shows that should be recorded; has the over-run issue (which you can workaround but not solve); etc.

    I remember last year trying to record Doctor Who every week for the complete series and I don't think a single episode got recorded completely.

    The problem mostly stems from a lack of industry standard for communicating program start/end times. UPC / Sky both state that they rely on the data provided by the broadcaster (which is not updated / fed in real time with the signal / via some other channel). From what I've seen Sky does seem to do a better job with their EPC but that's mostly from anecdotal usage.

    The true solution is do to centralised PVR recording (you have have to store 1 copy of the program too) and let customers pull the episode down when they want to view it. If UPC implemented that (with HD quality for channels that supported it) they would be streets ahead of the competition. Doubt it will happen though due to the complexity of copyright laws. :(

    True the UPC series link is terrible and it appears to be getting worst not better

    It's on the way with VOD. UPC claim is on the way soon so tell your children to prepare their kids for it.
