    Hi
Looking for some advice about which diesel car to get,I need one thats going to be reliable and cheap to run and tax.
at the moment i have a 2.0 petrol and its getting ridiculous to try and run the thing,

    my options are,(all diesel)
    focus
    ceed
    octavia
    avensis

only have about 8k to spend so might be pushing it for the cheap tax(2008+)

Im not too pushed about the style of the car only the reliability and the highest MPG.

Any advice would be much appreciated as im withered from comparing cars on carzone etc.

    cheers

the polo is a flakin car but have to fit a buggie and shopping in the boot as well as car seats in the back, keep the suggestions coming does anyone rate the peugeot 308 or 1.9 vectra although the peugeot is too small as well id say

308 might not be half bad. Wiki says 90mpg but I don't know which one that is or if it's still available

You can always buy a small trailer for these cars if you only have to carry lots of stuff infrequently

Would you actually get a focus or avensis 08+ for under 8K....I doubt it...
unless there is something wrong with it..

    good warranty on the KIA's...
    octavia ..good car.

So is the Avensis and the Focus..excellent...but for mpg..probably the Focus, but you would not get for under 8K

For a buggy and kids I'd go for the C-Max type car(can't remember their real name) as the saloon and hatchback aren't that big.

    Focus ftw!

    Octavia is underwhelming.

Focus would be easier to sell on down the road!

Any VAG group with the 1.9 TDI AWX engine in it, with regular mantenance these cars run forever. Good luck

Yea for a buggie and some shopping, Focus has plenty of room for both.

ah but the octavia can hold a whole year's worth of shopping so will save more on fuel

You'd get the sheep and the dog in there and they'd never find each other

what would be regarded as high mileage on a second hand diesel,a lot of what im looking at in my budget is around 80k on the clock.

Is this is a lot in regards to diesel or would i be better spending a few quid more on a 50 or 60k one.

    clueless
