Crossposting this from the igaming mailing list onto here... might be seen as an advert, so mods please act accordingly if this shouldn't be here. On the other hand, it seems that "are there any LARPs in Ireland?" is a Frequently Asked Question around here, so hopefully this is a public service announcement!

    Hey all,

This is a quick reminder that we're headed into our second day-long game on the 9th of July and it's an ideal time to come on board for new players or returning players - no long-term commitment necessary if you're not sure about the whole thing!

    What's Midway?

Midway is an ongoing LARP set in a post-apocalyptic world. We run our games monthly, usually on a Friday night, but we also run day-long games on Saturdays. This game is our tenth episode. We have roughly forty active players and we've been growing slowly since we started last September. Midway is unlike other LARPs you might have played in that it uses both rubber swords (like the LT or other UK LRP games) and airsoft (like you might have used for weekend "skirmish" games) for combat resolution - combat isn't all we do, but there's a certain element of it inherent in the game.

    Where is it?

We play out at Hit-and-run Tactical Assault (HRTA) in Ballyboughal, Swords. You can find directions to the site on our website, and we run a minibus service to each game. The site we play at is open air, and full of empty portakabins. We move into these portakabins at each event and build a wall and a gate around our "village." Some of our players have brought in old furniture, and we have some DIY enthusiasts who have built us a working bar (though we don't allow alcohol on site.) We have a church, a graveyard, and although we don't like to talk about it we've even got a "lady of the night"!

Where can I find out more?

Come and visit us online to check out rules at http://www.midwaylrp.com or follow us on Twitter @MidwayLRP - you can also find out discussion forum on IrishGaming.Com... http://www.irishgaming.com/forum

If you have a specific question, fire it at the GM team - team@midwaylrp.com

I'm interested! What do I do next?

Firstly - create yourself a character with the rules on the website, then contact our GM team for approval. Have a think about what sort of costume you'd like to wear (we've some fantastic costumes among our players) and then come introduce yourself on the forums and we'll work out why you're coming to the little settlement of Midway together.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

    Nick.
