Media player showing black & white

Hi, I've connected my media player & hard drive to my tv via the auxiliary connection (as there is no hdmi input) but the picture is only showing black and white (on a colur tv). ANy ideas how i can fix this? I've checked all connections and turned everything on and off. Thanks
