2 day multisport race

Just wondering whether people would be interested in a 2 day multi sport race. My friends are doing the nokia coast to coast race in scotland and its a 2 day supported race where you basically do the equavalent of gaelforce 2 days in a row with a designated overnight stop at a campsite in the middle and a party the last night when its all finished. The race entry includes transportation of your gear (including camping stuff) from start to 1/2 way and on to finish and then theres a bus back to the start but I suppose depending on what route you did you could make it circular. Anyway I was just thinking it could be good fun and a bit of a step beyond the current one day events so just gauging interest.

I know theres the irish coast to coast version but this is unsupported so you need a team with you to get you places which is a lot less accessible to people and the distance is a lot longer.

Do you think a 2 day race is something you would be interested in? 10 votes

I heard of one of these thats run in the south of England too. Not for the faintheated. Someday I'd like to tackle one but at the moment I'm targeting other things.

I've always liked the idea of doing the Beast of Ballyhoura, something like this I'd be interested in.

    Sounds like a good challenge:eek:

Its something I looked at last year. It was also called coast to coast, maybe the same crew run it in different venues. Ill have a scout and see if I can find it.

There are a few Coast to Coasts...

The original, and the best by a gigantic margin is the New Zealand coast to coast. An absolute classic. It's been on the go for more than 20 years, IIRC. The kiwi adventure racers seem to treat it as their national champs, and there is huge prestige associated with winning, as the competition is so incredibly strong, and the race such a good challenge.

There is a Scottish C2C, an Irish one, and an English one. All these are much much less challenging than the kiwi original. The kayaking in particular is much easier. Different people organise each of them.

i would be up for a 2 day adventure race.lots of athletes have done one day short races and i,m sure a 2 day event in the right format would attract interest.maybe a stages race with a rest between stages would work.it would be great to have a race that moves closer to real adventure racing.
