hinge broken

one of the hinges seems to be broken on my dell vostro 1500 the metal hinge is stuck in an upright position and I can't seem to move it, should I try and force it? If I tray and move the monitor past 90 degrees the hinge starts pushing though plastic and breaking it. When i close the laptop it comes off the hinge a bit so…

When i close the laptop it comes off the hinge a bit so that it is raised a little, the monitor comes off the hinge a lot and I'm afraid the connection from laprop to monitor will break, what should I do, open up the laptop and remove the hinge or something?

take off the front bit of the lcd (either clips or screws) you will be able to see whats the crack with the hinge , it might just be aloose screw
